Family-run Italian restaurant chain hungry for growth after Glasgow’s latest restaurant and bakery

La Vita, founded in 1999 by the Arcari brothers, comprises five locations – two La Vita restaurants in George Square and Bishopbriggs, two La Vita Spuntini restaurants on Gordon Street and Byres Road, and one La Vita Piccolino Vino in Newton Mearns.

The business is now set to open a new restaurant in Glasgow’s east end on Baillieston Road, while plans are under way to introduce other restaurants to the city over the next few years.

To facilitate the deal, Bank of Scotland provided funding through the Clean Growth Finance Initiative to help the company achieve its growth ambitions.

La Vita has since been able to begin development of the new restaurant, which is expected to open in October. The new site will also include a bakery which will produce a range of Italian breads and cakes and will be available at all six restaurants.

The restaurant chain is looking to minimize its carbon footprint and the new restaurant and bakery will include a host of sustainable features including thermal insulation, water recycling units and eco-friendly electric boilers.

La Vita currently employs 160 people at its five sites and intends to hire another 25 workers once the new site opens.

Co-owner Mario Arcari said: “We are really proud of our business and how our reputation has grown over the years. What started as a family restaurant in 1999 is now a six location business with a very strong following from across Glasgow.

La Vita, founded in 1999 in Glasgow by the Arcari brothers, specializes in Italian cuisine.

“Despite the disruptions of the pandemic, our business has really rebounded. When we reopened, our bookings and orders surged, so we knew it was the perfect time to build on the positive momentum and expand further east.

Stephen Owens, Director of Relationships at Bank of Scotland, added: “We know that businesses are currently operating in a difficult environment, but growth opportunities remain on the horizon and it is imperative that we support them where possible. . La Vita is a great example of a family business that continually strives to develop and grow.
