Jubilant FoodWorks launches American restaurant chain Popeyes in India

Jubilant FoodWorks Limited (JFL), a leading food service company, has launched the American brand of fried chicken Popeyes in India. The company opened the first restaurant under this brand in Bangalore.

Popeyes is best known for its New Orleans Spicy Fried Chicken and Chicken Sandwich and has been one of America’s most popular and fastest growing chicken brands.

JFL said the Bengaluru flagship store was opened in Koramangala and will be followed by the opening of stores in New BEL Road and Kammanahalli shortly thereafter.

In a joint statement, Shyam S. Bhartia, Chairman and Hari S. Bhartia, Co-Chairman, Jubilant Foodworks Ltd said, “We are delighted to introduce the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen brand to Indian consumers who love chicken. We are confident that Popeyes will not only delight customers, but will also strategically complement our portfolio and reinforce JFL’s leadership in the QSR space.

The brand will have its own app and mobile website allowing customers to experience food at home as well.

To ensure a smooth and seamless delivery experience, JFL has built its own in-house delivery fleet with 100% e-bike usage.

David Shear, President of RBI International, parent company of Popeyes, said: “This new country entry illustrates our commitment to serve more customers around the world with our signature blend of spices and flavors. We are confident that our Indian customers will love Popeyes Fried Chicken and we are looking forward to this launch.

The Popeyes India menu will feature the Cajun flavor chicken sandwich. “Complementing the menu is Popeyes’ signature chicken with classic, spicy flavors. The Indian menu will also offer a range of vegetarian options. There will also be rice bowls and wraps as part of the healthy meal options to ensure all guests enjoy the Popeyes Cajun experience,” the company said.
