National restaurant chain targets ND Man In ad campaign

You might see something a little strange over the next week. The national chain of restaurants “Checkers” and “Rally’s” (Same owner) launches an advertising campaign to convince a man to change.

National Day Calendar

I’m sure you’ve heard of the National Day Calendar, and have probably visited the website once or twice. You might be surprised to learn that a man from Bismarck was the founder of the site and makes many decisions and designations for the calendar.

“Checkers” do not play games

Marlo Anderson has been asked by the channel “Checkers” to reconsider the date of “National Fries Day” and they are serious. Digital billboards and other interesting tactics are used to influence Anderson.

The company hopes to move the existing national fries day, which falls on July 13 (following Wednesday), the second Friday of July. To find? …”Fry-Day”.

Yes, this change would open up a world of possibilities for fries, friday puns.

The really interesting part?

There is not one “Ladies” or “Rally’s” in the state of North Dakota. In fact, there isn’t one within 500 miles of us. My next question of course, is this their plan? Will the company soon open branches in North Dakota? Is it the precursor? Hard to say at the moment.

Marlo’s point of view

In an interview with Steve Bakken, on SuperTalk 1270, Anderson explained that the National Day calendar has been asked to change Fries Day several times in the past. He said it had never gone this far.

“I will say it’s pretty smart,” Anderson said.

Anderson went on to explain that changing the schedule isn’t as easy as one might think.

“It makes a lot of sense, but it upsets the whole schedule. Changes should be made,” Anderson said.

A petition has been created

The company “Checkers” and “Rally’s” has created a petition. Currently, there are approximately 16,000 signatures. It was posted online this morning (Tuesday July 5). If you look at the company site, you’ll see they’ve pasted Anderson’s face all over the page.

Anderson explained in the SuperTalk interview that he would prefer them to take a more conventional approach to asking for a change, although they certainly caught his eye.
