Restaurant chain LEON set to open new branch in central Brixton – Brixton Buzz

The big chains’ march to Brixton continues apace, with news that mega fast food chain LEON is set to open a new branch at 462 Brixton Road, next to the now closed Costa.

The building once housed the family-owned Websters shoe store, which occupied the site for 140 years before sadly closing in 2012.

LEON was established in 2004 and had approximately 70 outlets when it was acquired by Group EG in 2021.

The EG Group also owns Asda, thousands of service stations across Europe, the US and Australia and is the largest KFC franchisee in the UK.

The company scores points for implementing equal pay, both for age and gender, and pays the over-25 minimum wage rate to all hourly-paid employees , including those under the age of 25.

All is not good though, as Wikipedia reports, “One of Leon’s founders is Henry Dimbleby, a strong supporter of Vote Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum, who spent results night with Michael Gove .” The 2016 Brexit vote saw Lambeth emerges as London borough with most remaining voters.

As for food, it should be noted that their prices are affordable compared to some local outlets, with burgers starting at £6 and Breakfast Boxes at £6. See full menu here.
