The famous Chow Bay area restaurant chain is back with a huge new location in San Ramon

Some Bay Area diners may still have fond memories of Chow, the small chain of restaurants with locations in Inner Sunset and Mission Dolores, both of which survived more than 20 years in business before closing all of their locations – including outposts in Danville, Lafayette and Oakland — by 2019 due to bankruptcy. But now chef and owner Tony Gulisano is back with a new iteration of Chow, a massive 6,000-square-foot restaurant in San Ramon with a full bar and take-out market, Mercury News reports.

The new restaurant is set to open on August 10 and will operate pretty much all day, from 7 a.m. until late at night with a “canteen menu” including bites to run alongside the cocktail program, with plans to stay open “as late as the children of San Ramon want,” says Gulisano. It’s a huge space that seems to cater for everyone, mentions of vegetarian and vegan options, an outdoor patio, delivery, and the aforementioned take-out market. “I’m grateful to be able to have a second run,” Gulisano told the Wed. The space is located at 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road, Suite 1100.

Violent Starbread Bakery Customer Identified

Yesterday we broke the sad news of a Starbread employee and manager injured in an altercation with an angry customer last week. Now Pittsburgh police say they’ve found the suspect’s identity, KTVU reports. The Pittsburg Police Department identified the suspect on social media like Lolani Finau, 36, saying a warrant has been issued for Finau’s arrest but his location is unknown. KTVU’s Henry K. Lee adds Twitter that Finau had already been convicted of vandalism and assault.

San Francisco delivery fee cap updates approved in final vote

A new law impacting San Francisco’s delivery fee cap — which preserves the 15% fee cap but allows restaurant owners to opt out in exchange for more service (in short) — passed in a final vote by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in a second reading Tuesday. The ordinance will now go to the mayor for final approval.

Shuggie’s Trash Pie & Natural Wine Launches Crawfish Porridge

Shuggie’s, those sustainability-focused pizza and food purveyors – with a trash-glam twist – announcement it will hold its first annual crawfish boil on Sunday August 7th. Tickets are $150 on Eventbrite, but with that, customers are promised unlimited crawfish with “all the trimmings” and “a bunch of apps” along with a drink ticket, a crawfish boil t-shirt, and “sweet memories of your favorite event of the summer.” What more could you want? (But hurry, there are only 60 tickets available.)
