Reid previously worked as a Senior Sous Chef at Brockencote Hall in Worcestershire and the Michelin-starred Chester Grosvenor Hotel. He joins The French at the same time as the new restaurant manager Kamila Plonska, who spent three years as deputy manager of Rogan’s Cumbria property, L’Enclume.
âI really feel honored to be working alongside someone like Simon,â Reid said. âI grew up in Manchester so I have always loved the city and am delighted to be part of one of the most iconic restaurants.
âSimon has a very unique style, and I was really lucky to spend a good part of my training at L’Enclume, where we worked together on the menu. With Simon’s guidance, I want to continue his great work with the support of a strong brigade of chefs here in Midland.
Kamila added: âWhen Simon offered me the opportunity to move to Manchester and lead The French, I didn’t hesitate to accept. My job as head of the hospitality team is to make sure that that customers receive a high level of service and attention not found in any other restaurant in town.
The French gourmet restaurant officially opened at the Midland Hotel on Peter Street in Manchester on Tuesday March 12. All restaurant details can be found here.
