Durban – POLICE are looking for those implicated in the murder of Copper Chimney restaurant manager Rashid Khan in Phoenix on Sunday evening.

Khan, who emigrated from Pakistan, was shot dead while sitting in a Nissan 1400 bakkie on Flintstone Road.

He had returned home with his colleagues. The bakkie was motionless at the door.

Her 10-year-old owner Soraya Khan said her family rushed when they heard gunshots.

She said Khan was shot in the neck and hip. She blamed the non-working streetlights for helping the shooter escape.

“He was the breadwinner for his family at home. He came to South Africa for a living, but instead was murdered. Arrangements are being made for his funeral in Pakistan. Nothing was stolen from him, ”Khan said.

Flintstone Road Neighborhood Watch President Nazira Yasin said a man wearing a hooded jacket and face mask came out of the darkness and shot Khan.

Yasin said the gunman walked away and got into a waiting car nearby. Khan was taken to hospital but died on arrival.

“We don’t know if it was an attempted hijacking or a hit. Rashid lived with a group of workers on the property. The community is in shock. We have written to our advisor regarding public lighting. We also deal with petty crime, trespassing and prostitution in the region. “

Officers from the Phoenix Police Station are investigating a murder case.

In a separate incident, also on Sunday evening, two men died on Snake Park Pier, along Durban Beach.

Police spokesman Captain Nqobile Gwala said the men, both 25, allegedly had an argument. “They both drew their knives and stabbed each other to death. Murder charges have been laid at Durban Central Police Station. “

Fisherman Shayed Rahiman said he knew one of the deceased as Siya.

Rahiman wrote on Facebook: “He (Siya) came to the pier as a person, as a street child. He joined us all regardless of race. He became one of the fishermen. He taught us to fish. He helped us when we needed him. He caught sea lice from us and helped us get our items into the car. Thanks for being a friend on some lonely nights on the pier.

A 42-year-old Chatsworth man died in hospital from stabbing on Saturday. Gwala said that in an earlier altercation an 18-year-old victim was stabbed at a party in Moorton.

“The next day, the victim’s father attempted to establish the details surrounding the stabbing of his son. During an altercation at Arena Park, the father was stabbed. Two men were arrested for murder.
